Fulham have boosted their chances of getting promotion to the Premier League with an impressive 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

The Cottagers moved to within two points of automatic promotion to English top-flight after Aleksandar Mitrovic’s brace helped them secure victory.

Scott Parker’s men came into the match on the back of three successive wins and claimed their fourth victory on Friday night, which saw them occupy the third position in the Championship table.

Swansea started the game the stronger side and had piled the pressure on Fulham earlier in the match, creating as many as chances possible. Sam Surridge almost put his team ahead but had his effort saved by Marek Roda before the Fulham’s goalkeeper denied Kyle Naughton seconds after.

Fulham talisman Mitrovic, however, broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute with a header to register his 14th goal of the season and doubled his team lead two minutes
from half time.

The visitors continued from where they stopped in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net. Swansea tried to fight their way back into the game and pulled a goal back in the 65th minute through George Byers. The home team made efforts to equalize, but Fulham held on for a win.

Mitrovic scored 12 goals in 20 matches for Fulhman when on loan from Newcastle United in the 2017/2018 season. The Serb is now leading the Championship scoring chart with 15 goals from 18 Championship matches – which is the most to be scored by any player in the league.

Fulham have won 10 games from 19 matches and are 35 points – four points off the top spot behind West Brom. The London club was relegated from the Premier League in the 2013/2014 season after ending the season in the 19th position.
