Barcelona star Lionel Messi has thanked the club for their support over the last year as he prepares to help them lift the Champions League again.

Messi has been in sublime form for the Spanish giants after scoring 58 goals in all competitions.

His efforts have seen them win the La Liga title and Copa del Rey this season and they are aiming to win the treble this weekend.

Should they win the Champions League at the expense of Juventus, Barcelona will complete only the second treble in their 115-year history.

They will need to be at their best to get past Juve who are also trying to complete the treble after winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Messi’s recent goal in the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao grabbed the headlines and the Argentinian admits he is loving his football again.

He said: “Perhaps over last year [2013-14] the season hasn’t been good for me, because of several situations on and off the pitch.

“Whether you like it or not, this always has an influence on your performance on the pitch. I suffered an injury and it took me a while to get back and do what I wanted to do. So a few things weren’t so good.

“I have always tried to enjoy it and do things well. And now this season I have tried to be the same as last year. I have been very grateful for what the club has done for me and the warmth and support I received from it.”

Juventus are currently 5.50 to win the Champions League, while the draw is available at 4.00. Barcelona are the heavy favourites at 1.62.
