Aaron Ramsey believes Arsenal already have the players to mount a challenge for the Premier League title but still expects new faces to arrive this summer.

The Gunners enjoyed their best campaign for a few years and, having finished in third spot in the table, will not have to face their customary two-legged qualification match for the Champions League.

It appeared as though the north Londoners would finish second behind Chelsea but a late-season surge by Manchester City, with six straight wins, meant Arsene Wenger’s side had to settle for third.

The FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa ensured that the trophy cabinet will not be bare heading into next season but there is a sense that the fans want more than just a cup run next term.

Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho has already acknowledged that Arsenal, who are priced at 5.50 to win the Premier League, could provide a serious threat next season, and Ramsay agrees with him.

“Even with this group of players now I believe if everyone was fit in the season we would have a great opportunity of competing for the Premier League,” he said.

“This team has come on a lot over the last few years and if we can get off to a good start next season we will challenge.”

A number of players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the summer months and it seems as though Wenger will open the cheque book once more, and the Wales international midfielder will be happy to see quality additions to the squad.

“The club is in a good place where they can afford not to let players go, we’re building on this team rather than seeing players leaving,” he added.
