Celtic have denied reports that claim midfielder Nir Bitton will be leaving the club at the end of the current campaign.

According to reports, Bitton’s agent, Dudu Dahan, has told an Israeli radio station that his client is looking to move to England next summer despite signing a new five-year deal with the Hoops last month.

The 24-year-old has once again played a major part in his side’s fortunes this season and he has already scored six times during his 23 appearances in all competitions.

Former Israel boss Eli Guttman has also encouraged the midfielder to stay at Parkhead and the club has now released a statement to clarify the situation.

“We were delighted to agree a new contract recently with Nir and very pleased that he has committed his long-term future to Celtic,” a Bhoys spokesperson told Celtic’s official website.

“We know nothing about these reports but as Nir himself has said, Celtic is where he wants to be.”

Dahan has also denied the media reports and claims his client is hoping to remain with the Scottish champions for the next few years.

“These reports are not correct, I have never said that Nir will leave Celtic,” he said. “Nir has signed a new contract with Celtic and appreciates everything he has there. He loves the club and wants to be at Celtic for a very long time.”
