Monchengladbach gets BVB, Wolfsburg Face Leipzig In The DFB-Pokal Quarterfinals

German Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach will face each other in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal after the draws were made on Sunday evening.

The quarter-finals fixtures will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2021.

The Foals (Monchengladbach) defeated FC Oberneuland, SV Elsversberg, and Stuttgart on the road to the last eight.

Dortmund knocked out MSV Duisburg, Eintracht Braunschweig, and SC Paderborn 3-2, on the way to the quarter-finals.

Both Borussia club sides are leveled on points on the Bundesliga table with 32 points from 20 games played.

However, Dortmund sits sixth on the log, ahead of Monchengladbach in seventh, on goals difference.

In other quarter-final fixtures, RB Leipzig and Wolfsburg will play in the other all Bundesliga tie, Rot-Weiss Essen will face Holstein Kiel, while Werder Bremen will face Jahn Regensburg.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will play Egyptian side, and CAF Champions League winners, Al Ahly, in the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup on Monday.

Al Ahly had defeated Qatar side Al Duhail 1-0 on Thursday in the quarter-final to move into the semi-finals.

Bayern defeated Hertha Berlin 1-0 in the Bundesliga on Friday before traveling to the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt defeated Hoffeinham 3-1 on Sunday as Filip Kostic, Obite Evan Ndicka, and Andre Silva scored for the away side.

Togolese midfielder Ihlas Bebou scored just minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute to give the home team a consolation goal.

The game between Arminia Bielefeld and Werder Bremen did not hold as it was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
