Niko Kovac is adamant Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga title despite missing the chance to retain the trophy away at RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon.

Table-toppers Bayern made the trip to in-form Leipzig knowing a victory would guarantee the German title for a record 29th time and the seventh straight year.

However, the Bavarians were unable to break down the opposition defence and they had to settle for a 0-0 draw, meaning they will have to wait until the final game of the season to wrap up the title.

Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 victory at home to Fortuna Dusseldorf helped BVB cut the gap to Bayern to two points heading into the final round of fixtures, ensuring the title race will be decided on the final day for the first time since 2009.

Despite dropping points against Leipzig, Kovac is adamant his side will pick up all three points at home to his former club Eintracht Frankfurt in the last game and lift the Bundesliga trophy.

“We’ll play at home and we’ll seal the title there,” he was quoted as saying on the official Bayern website after the Leipzig draw. “It’ll be a final for the championship title, the people in Munich haven’t had that for years, even decades.

“So I’m convinced our fans will create a great atmosphere, which will boost our passion and will to win.” Dortmund travel to Borussia Monchengladbach on the final day of the season as the visitors go in search of their first Bundesliga title since the 2011-12 campaign.
