Blackburn boss Owen Coyle is hopeful his side can kick-start their season when they take on Burton Albion at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Rovers are currently bottom of the Championship table after losing their first three league matches of the new season, including a 2-1 defeat to Cardiff on Wednesday night.

The Lancashire club will have the chance to secure their first points of the campaign when they host newly promoted Burton this weekend, a match that will kick-start a run of three home fixtures in eight days for Coyle’s men.

Following the match with the Brewers, Blackburn will take on Crewe in the League Cup on home soil on Tuesday, before they host Fulham in the league next Saturday, and Coyle is keen for his side to capitalise on their run of home games.

“We’ve got to set ourselves up now for the three home games and be ready for the good team that Burton are,” said the Rovers boss.

“But we are back at home at Ewood so it is an opportunity for us to go and win our games. A win gets you up and running coming into another two home games after that, and of course it gives you confidence, that momentum, that forward movement we all want.”

The 50-year-old knows his side will be severely tested against Nigel Clough’s men, who secured their first league win of the season against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.

He added: “They showed that the other night against Sheffield Wednesday when they thoroughly deserved their victory.”

Blackburn are available at 2.40 to secure their first win of the season on Saturday, while Burton are on offer at 3.10 and the draw is priced at 3.20.
