Blackburn boss Owen Coyle believes injuries hampered his side’s chances of securing all three points from Saturday’s goalless draw with Ipswich at Ewood Park.

Rovers went into the clash with the Tractor Boys already missing forward Danny Graham due to a groin injury, while Gordon Greer was forced off with a similar problem at half-time.

Groin injuries appear to be a persistent problem for Rovers at the moment, as Northern Ireland international Corry Evans was also forced off with a similar issue in the second half, and Coyle conceded after the match that the injuries had seriously hampered his side’s chances of victory.

“We were beset by injuries again,” Coyle told Radio Rovers. “Gordon Greer came off at half-time with the same groin injury that forced him to leave the Scotland camp.

“Whilst Corry Evans was just starting to tighten up again after what he had done with Northern Ireland which then restricted us.”

On-loan forward Sam Gallagher also picked up an injury during the closing stages of the match, but Coyle confirmed the youngster had to play on, as he had already used all three of his substitutes.

He added: “Big Sam Gallagher in the last 15 minutes was feeling an injury but he had to play on as we had used all the subs.

So we were unfortunate in that respect.” The former Bolton boss will be hoping to have some of his injured players available for Tuesday’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest at Ewood Park.

Rovers are currently second from bottom in the league standings and they are available at 2.10 to be relegated come the end of the campaign.
