Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri has admitted that his lack of first-team football could see him leave the club this season, with a switch to the Premier League a possibility.

The Switzerland star only started 10 Bundesliga games last season, as the club stormed to the title under Pep Guardiola.

Shaqiri has spent the last two seasons with the Bavarians but the 22-year-old hasn’t made the impact he would have liked. The likes of Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery have all been selected in front of him and Shaqiri appears to be losing his patience.

He is expected to play a major role in Switzerland’s World Cup campaign but he admits he has a lot of thinking to do this summer.

Speaking to 20 Minuten, he said: “It’s clear that I cannot continue like this. If nothing changes, I will have to make some changes myself.

“I want to play in the important games as well and not just in the Bundesliga. I don’t want to go through another year like this.

“I only want to play for a major club. The Champions League is important to me. We will see what happens.

“England would be an option. If I were to leave Bayern, it will be for a foreign club. But it will have to be a club challenging for the title.”

Shaqiri will be hoping to help Switzerland out of Group E and they can be backed at 3.75 to overcome France, Ecuador and Honduras.
