Thiago Alcantara says Bayern Munich need to remain focused as they still haven’t won anything this season despite their current lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings.

After winning the treble last season, the Bavarians have only appeared to improve under new boss Pep Guardiola and a win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday will make it 11 league victories in a row.

Bayern are quite understandably the massive favourites to beat Frankfurt, currently being priced at 1.11, with the draw 9.00 and the visitors 25.00 and another success would see them restore their 13-point lead ahead of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table.

It means Die Roten are already being talked about as title winners but Thiago insists that there is still a long way to go in the fight for the Bundesliga title.

“We are not champions yet,” he told Bild am Sonntag. “It’s true, I would not have previously believed that we would already have such a lead, but things can also quickly get away from you again. We cannot let up.

“Sure, we sometimes have had games that were much simpler than we would have expected but there were also games that were very close, where we were lucky, where we won by only one goal. We have come closer to winning the championship – nothing more.”

Bayern’s form hasn’t just been exclusive to domestic football and following their success last season in the Champions League, they are currently the 3.30 favourites to retain their crown at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon on May 24.
