Barcelona striker Luis Suarez insists he is unconcerned after missing out on a nomination for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.

The Uruguay international managed 31 league goals for former side Liverpool last season, which made him Europe’s joint top-scorer alongside Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite his exploits at Anfield, Suarez missed out on the 23-man shortlist for the award but the Barca forward insists he is “not losing any sleep over” his absence from the nominations.

The fact that Suarez was handed a lengthy ban for biting Italy’s Girogio Chiellini at the World Cup may well have influenced the decision not to include him in the nominations for the Ballon d’Or.

“I understand that the Ballon d’Or is given to a player for his performances on the pitch and the discipline he shows,” Suarez told Fox Sports .

“But what’s not clear is if it’s from July to June or January to December. If it’ January to December then okay, but if they do it for the whole season then I don’t understand it.

“It has drawn my attention but I’m not losing any sleep over it.”

Barcelona are currently two points adrift of La Liga leaders Real Madrid having picked up 25 points from 11 games to date.

The Catalan giants bounced back from two successive defeats by seeing off Almeria 2-1 prior to the international break and return to action on Saturday when they host Sevilla.

Barcelona are 1.22 to take all three points, the visitors can be backed at 11.23 and a draw is 6.20.
