Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny admits his side’s performance in the 5-1 defeat at Liverpool was “not acceptable” and expects a response when Manchester United visit on Wednesday.
The Gunners were 4-0 down inside 20 minutes at Anfield on Saturday and Polish shot-stopper Szcezesny feels they must bounce back against defending champions United.
“We represent one of the biggest clubs in the world and what we did early on is not acceptable,” he told reporters.
“We said that at half-time, we went out in the second half with a different attitude and it was much more of an even game.
“But as I said we will learn our lesson from this and respond quickly against Man United.
The Gunners surrendered top spot in the Premier League to Chelsea after slipping up at Liverpool at the weekend, after the Blues comfortably brushed aside Newcastle United 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have 56 points, Arsenal have 55 and Manchester City 54, while Liverpool have forced their way back into the title race and are six points adrift of top spot ahead of their trip to Fulham on Wednesday.
Arsenal are 2.14 to beat Manchester United on Wednesday and 7.50 to win the Premier League outright. City are 2.30 to win the league and Chelsea can be backed at 2.20.
