Lionel Messi picked up a hamstring injury in their Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Barcelona confirmed that their star forward picked up a knock in Paris and that he will need to undergo further tests to find out the extent of his injury.

“Messi sustained an injury to his right hamstring. He will undergo further tests on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury,” their statement said.

The injury occurred towards the end of the first half, where the Argentine was seen on the touchline talking to his manager Tito Vilanova while holding his leg.

He was then seen off the pitch, while Cesc Fabregas was put on as a substitute.

Messi scored the Catalans’ opening goal of the match in the 38th minute, with the tie ultimately ending in a 2-2 draw.
