Welshman Nathan Cleverly has confirmed he will return to the ring in May to face Guyana’s Sean Corbin as he looks to bounce back from defeat to Sergei Kovalev last time out.

Cleverly surrendered his WBO light-heavyweight title against Kovalev but will make his comeback at cruiserweight in Cardiff at the Motorpoint Arena on May 17 as he looks to make amends for his only career defeat.

Corbin, the WBC Caribbean champion has won 17 of his 21 fights, 12 by knockout. With Cleverly now set to return in the 200lbs division, he may fight domestic rival Tony Bellew once again in the future.

Ahead of Cleverly’s return in May, promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping Cleverly can move on to bigger things in 2014.

“I can’t wait to see Nathan back in action at cruiserweight,” said Hearn. “Corbin has only been beaten when he has stepped up to top level and will come into the fight with plenty of size and ambition.

“Nathan must win and look good doing so with so many huge fights just around the corner.”

Also on the bill, Lee Selby will take on Romulu Koasicha in a world title eliminator with the international belt at stake.

Gary Buckland and Gavin Rees will face off for the second time after their blockbuster contest in February, while Liverpool’s Callum Smith will face Tobias Webb as he looks to continue his fine start to his professional career.
