WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao once again claimed he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather after securing a landslide points win over Chris Algieri.

The eight-division world champion was a class above his American opponent who burst onto the world scene in June.

Pacquiao managed to score six knockdowns during the fight in Macau but Algieri somehow managed to carry on until the final bell.

Two judges scored the bout 119-103 while the other card read 120-102, all in favour of the Pacman, who was expected to move down to 140lbs.

Trainer Freddie Roach claimed that was Pacquiao’s next move, with the powerful Danny Garcia lined up as a possible opponent. A possible fight with Mayweather remains an option, although many claim it could be too late for the pair to meet.

However, speaking after his win, Pacquiao admitted he still wants to face the unbeaten Mayweather.

He said: “I really want that fight. The fans deserve that fight.”

Despite showing his potential in June, Algieri never imposed himself during the fight on Sunday. The first knockdown was a slip according to the American, but Pacquiao made sure in the sixth as he landed a right hook.

He was on the canvas twice in the ninth and once again in the 10th and many expected him to quit before the end of the fight.

However, he managed to hold on and he admitted after the fight that Pacquiao was just too good.

“It’s not just his hand speed,” Algieri said. “He’s a great fighter.
He does everything well. I was never hurt, but he did catch me with a big shot.”
