WBC and WBA light-welterweight champion Danny Garcia will defend his belts for a fifth time when he faces Mauricio Herrera in Puerto Rico.
Garcia will clash with Herrera in Bayamon on March 15 on what promises to be an emotional night for the champion.
He will fulfill a life-long ambition to fight on the islands, with both his parents coming from the region.
The contest itself may be a step down for the powerful fighter, whose last two wins came over Zab Judah and Lucas Matthysse in 2013.
But Herrera does have a victory over the ferocious Ruslan Provodnikov in 2011 on his CV, and he won back-to-back fights in 2013 as he looks to challenge at the top of the sport.
Speaking about the upcoming Garcia fight, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions told ESPN: “Herrera is a good fighter and he beat Provodnikov. Herrera is very excited about this fight.
“He sees it as a tremendous opportunity and is not worried at all about fighting Danny in Puerto Rico. (Danny) is clearly the man at 140 pounds and when you are the man you have a big target on your back.
“Whether Mauricio Herrera will be able to do something about it I don’t know. But I do know Mauricio Herrera comes to fight and will be ready.”
On the undercard, unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder will take on Malik Scott, while Juan Manuel Lopez faces Daniel Ponce De Leon in a featherweight re-match of their 2008 super-bantamweight clash.
