Gareth Bale loomed large in Tottenham Hotspurs’ 3-1 spanking of Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur charged back with a mighty three-goal blitz in a span of seven minutes to turn back Manchester City 3-1 and all but ended title hopes of the latter in the Premier League this season.

After Samir Nasri put City ahead early on in the 5th minute, the Spurs regrouped and produced awesome result at White Hart Lane to the delight of home fans on Sunday.

American midfielder Clint Dempsey knotted the count in the 75th then Jermain Defoe struck four minutes later to muscle the hosts ahead. Gareth Bale capped the big comeback with another goal in the 82nd.

With City’s defeat, Manchester United can clinch the crown when they hosts Aston Villa on Monday night.

City trail by 13 points and have five games remaining. Arsenal are third with 63 points, one ahead of Chelsea.

Hoping to finish among the top four and earn a berth in next season’s Champions League, Tottenham (18-8-7) are fifth with 61.

Dempsey slithered to prod in Bale’s cross with his left leg from 2 yards, beating City goalkeeper Joe Hart. In his first season with Spurs, Dempsey has six league goals and 11 overall.
