Manchester City winger Leroy Sane insists he will come back even stronger after being omitted from Germany’s final World Cup squad.
The 22-year-old enjoyed his best season to date in 2017-18, playing a crucial role in helping Manchester City to dominate the Premier League.
Sane netted 14 goals and laid on 19 assists across all competitions and his exploits were recognised when he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year.
The winger looked a certainty to earn a place in Germany’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup after being selected in Joachim Low’s provisional party.
However, Low caused a stir on Monday when he confirmed that Sane had not made the final cut.
Bayer Leverkusen wide man Julian Brandt was given the nod ahead of Sane but the knockback does not appear to have affected Sane’s mentality.
The City star has wished his team-mates well as they look to defend their world crown and insists he will come back even stronger for the experience.
Sane Tweeted: “I’m disappointed I won’t participate in the World Cup but I have to accept this decision and I’ll give it my all to bounce back stronger.
“Thank you so much everyone for your encouraging messages yesterday and today. Nothing but the best of success to the DFB Team in Russia. Go get that title!”
Germany are priced at 1.40 to kick off their World Cup campaign with a win, while the draw is available at 4.33, and Mexico can be backed at 7.50 to claim a shock win.
