Ali Carter finished last season strongly with a quarter-final appearance at the World Championship and will be looking to get the new campaign off to a good start at the Riga Masters.

‘The Captain’ has been handed a tough opener in Latvia as he takes on world number 93 Jak Jones, who has qualified for the Riga Masters for the first time in three years. Jones endured a mixed season last time out and failed to progress beyond the third round in any ranking event.

The Welshman could be set for a more productive campaign this time around as he has also qualified for the International Championship, while last year he failed to feature in the main draw in the first three ranking events.

Carter is 15.00 to win the Riga Masters outright and 1.20 to beat Jones. Jones is 4.33 to come out on top on Friday and 11.00 to win 4-3.

Gary Wilson was one of the surprise packages at the World Championship as the 33-year-old reached the semi-finals of the showpiece in just his second appearance in the main draw.

Wilson will be desperate to prove that wasn’t just a one-off and he takes on Jackson Page in the first round on Friday.

Wilson has never been beyond the opening round of the Riga Masters in two attempts and is 1.18 to win his opener in Latvia, with Page priced at 4.33 to claim the victory.
