British & Irish Lions centre Jamie Roberts is confident the tourists series win in Australia can inspire Wales to World Cup glory in 2015.

Warren Gatland used 11 Wales internationals in last Saturday’s 41-16 win over the Wallabies, including Roberts, who played in his first Test game and scored after three weeks out with a hamstring injury.

Along with the rest of the squad, Roberts will enjoy a well-earned break before moving to Racing Metro after leaving the Cardiff Blues.

The 26-year-old will then play a part in Wales’ autumn internationals, when they take on South Africa, Argentina, Tonga and Australia.

Roberts was part of the Lions squad that lost to South Africa in 2009 and he admits he is delighted to be a part of a winning side.

“Obviously I am moving to a new club, but the next goal now is to move into the autumn and really challenge the southern hemisphere teams as an international side with Wales,” said Roberts.

“We really move forward now in the next couple of years towards the World Cup. Having seen how the Welsh guys have performed on this tour, it is hugely promising looking forward to 2015. We want to win the World Cup.”
