Nathan Cleverly is hoping he can become a world champion for a second time when he finally gets the chance to take on Juergen Braehmer on October 1.

The 29-year-old will have the opportunity to become a two-time world champion as he challenges for the WBA world light-heavyweight strap in Neubrandenburg, Germany.

The Welshman boasts a professional record of 29 victories, with 15 of those wins coming via knockout, and just three defeats.

Cleverly is hoping to further enhance his CV against Braehmer, having seen two previous fights fall through in the last five years.

Poland’s Andrzej Fonfara defeated Cleverly last time out by a unanimous decision for the WBC international light-heavyweight title in what was one of the fights of 2015.

Despite coming off the back of a defeat and having lost three of his last six trips to the ring Cleverly insists he is raring to go ahead of his latest showdown.

Cleverly said: “He’s finally decided to take me on and it’s my opportunity to become a two-time world champion, so it’s going to be a great fight and a great opportunity. “I am looking forward to it.

I feel refreshed and invigorated, ready to strike again on the world scene, get that world title back and push on, then make this my best chapter yet.

“Sometimes in life things are meant to happen and meant to be and this is one of those occasions when, for myself and Braehmer, it’s the right time.

“He’s a reigning world champion for the second time and we were meant to fight twice in the past but it’s third time lucky now we’ve finally get the challenge on.”
