Frankie Gavin believes he has the ability to outclass Sam Eggington but insists he will not shy away from a “tear-up” if required.

The two Birmingham-born fighters will meet on Saturday in their home city’s Barclaycard Arena in a highly anticipated all-British bout.

Gavin, 31, who is 8.00 to win by KO/TKO/DQ/TD, is the more experienced of the pair and will be hoping to use his greater knowledge to the full.

In contrast, his 23-year-old opponent, who is 3.80 to win by KO/TKO/DQ/TD, will be hoping his extra power and ability to brawl with the best will allow him to claim the biggest win of his career to date.

Both fighters have been keen to talk themselves up in the build-up to the bout but it is Gavin who leads the betting at 1.73, with Eggington 2.15 and the draw over the 12 rounds 26.00.

The favourite admits he is expecting a tough fight against the ‘Savage’ but is in no doubt that his superior skills around the ring will help him claim the victory.

When asked for a prediction, Gavin told Sky Sports: “A boxing lesson and an explosive fight. There is going to be times in there when we both stand and trade and have a tear-up, and hopefully I’ll come out on top.

“He’s going to put a lot of pressure on, he’s going to throw a lot of shots, but that means he will be open for big counters. I think it will be there for me, definitely. I don’t think it is going 12, no way.”
