Jairzinho Rozenstruik was no match for Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC Fight Night last Saturday, losing a clear-cut unanimous decision. It is mind-blowing that Gane only started his MMA career three years ago yet holds a 5-0 record in the UFC and 8-0 overall. “Bon Gamin” also threw himself in talks for a heavyweight title shot.

“I want to be in the discussion now,” he said in very low key call to be in title contention. Rozenstruik threw no strikes and Gane is a smart fighter, he was not running in there and giving someone what they wanted. Cyril Gane fought the fight he had to and got the win as a result. He will likely fight for the world title within a year.

Gane is still just completing his transition to mixed martial arts. He recently revealed that Jon Jones is actually one of his favorite fighters to watch and someone that he wants to fight in his career.

“When I started looking at MMA, I like Jon Jones of course. He’s a stand up guy and well rounded. I want to do this kind of guy,” Gane told Helen Yee. He then spoke about his thoughts on Jones moving to the heavyweight division. “This is something good. I can’t wait. I think he never fought in this division before and I’m very excited for it.”

Ciryl Gane might have a small professional mixed martial arts record of 8-0 (5-0 in the UFC) but he’s a familiar name for Muay Thai fans. A former champion in Muay Thai, Gane went a perfect 7-0 in that discipline before transitioning into mixed martial arts. The French fighter is used to competing at the highest level throughout his career and he is also a former TKO heavyweight champion. Gane has six wins by either KO/TKO or submission in his career.
