Trainer Aidan O’Brien has confirmed stable star Pink Dogwood will be competing in Saturday’s Kerrygold Irish Oaks at the Curragh.

The filly will be one of six competing in the 13-strong contest and O’Brien is looking to add another winner to his record books. The Ballydoyle handler has won the race with Alexandrova, Peeping Fawn, Moonstone, Bracelet and Seventh Heaven and he fancies his chances this weekend.

Pink Dogwood nearly won the Investec Oaks at Epsom last month, but O’Brien eventually saw his charge come second behind Anapurna. In May, Pink Dogwood finished third in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh, with Iridessa getting up on that occasion.

Iridessa remains the 3.25 favourite for this weekend’s race but O’Brien is confident Pink Dogwood will compete at odds of 3.50.

He plans to send plenty of his stable, with Chablis, Credenza, Fleeting, Goddess and Peach Tree all being considered. O’Brien said: “We are very much looking forward to the Kerrygold Irish Oaks this weekend and have left six in the race at the moment

“We would be thinking that Fleeting, Pink Dogwood, Peach Tree and maybe something else will run.” The British challenge will be led by Star Catcher and punters can by the Royal Ascot hero to win at odds of 6.00.

John Gosden is hoping Star Catcher can help him win the race for a third time, while Raplh Beckett enters Newbury winner Antonia De Vega and Epsom Oaks fourth Manuela De Vega.

Operactic Export props up the field at odds of 101.00, with Search for a Song and Trehias also set to run for their connections.
