Duntle failed to appear in final declarations for Friday’s Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, meaning just four runners will go to post.

Connections have opted to race Duntle in a Group One at Deauville instead as they feel the horse needs more time to recover from her win in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

“She’s not been declared as it was felt that she needed a longer gap between her races,” Alan Cooper, who is the racing manager to the owners, Flaxman Stables Ireland, revealed.

“Instead, she’ll go to Deauville for the Prix Rothschild on July 28, a Group One over a mile.”

1000 Guineas winner Sky Lantern, who is trained by Richard Hannon and also won the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in devastating fashion, will head the field.

Last year’s winner Giofra will attempt to defend her crown despite failing to win in her five outings since taking the victory 12 months ago.

Alain de Royer-Dupre’s mare has travelled extensively having raced in Hong Kong and Dubai and will no doubt be glad to be back on home soil.

Elusive Kate, who picked up two Group One victories in France but was second in the Sun Chariot last season, is also set to race along with William Muir’s Purr Along, who makes up the four.
