Luke Donald is looking forward to getting back into competitive action following a short break from the game when the British Masters gets under way at the Grove on Thursday.
Donald was last in competitive action at the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour where he managed to finish in a tie for 39th, ending his chances of featuring in the season-ending Tour Championship.
The former world number one appears to be getting back to his previous best and secured the runners-up spot at the Wyndham Championship this season.
A lot of work is still required if the Englishman is going to get back into the winner’s circle for the first time since 2013, but the omens are looking good.
The 38-year-old has the added responsibility of hosting the British Masters this week but he insists the extra commitments have not hampered his preparations.
Donald is eager to get back on to the course and hopes the mini-break will put him in a good position to challenge for an eighth European Tour win.
“I’ve worked on my game for a couple of weeks now getting ready for this week, but I feel pretty refreshed and excited to get back to competition after a little break,” he said.
“I feel like during the FedEx play-offs, I really saw some positive signs and I felt like there was a lot more consistency in my game.”
Donald is priced at 26.00 to win the tournament whilst compatriot Tyrrell Hatton, fresh from his victory in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, is a 21.00 chance.
Masters champion Danny Willett is also in the field and is currently 23.00 to win his first title since clinching the Green Jacket in April.
