Justin Rose is full of confidence heading into the US Open and believes he is capable of winning a second major title.

Rose won the US Open back in 2013, and came close to adding a second major to his name when he finished on 14-under-par at the Masters earlier in the year.

He came up against Jordan Spieth in the form of his life on that occasion though and it was the American who claimed the famous green jacket at Augusta.

However Rose is not downbeat and is among the favourites heading into the US Open. The Englishman is priced at 17.00 and feels his game lends itself way to Chambers Bay as he looks to land another major title.

“I feel like I’ve kicked on from winning my first major, when sometimes it’s difficult to live up to that,” the world No 5 said.

“I feel like I’ve maintained my world ranking, I’ve won tournaments, I’ve done all the right things.

“Augusta was another sign this year. I came up against a great Jordan Spieth performance, but again it was a sign that my game was capable of winning these big championships.

“Since 2010, I feel like I’ve been on a nice upward trend; getting the monkey off my back by winning on the PGA Tour, the next year winning a play-off event in the FedEx Cup, the following year winning a World Golf Championship and the following year winning a major championship.

“I felt like the progression was really going nicely.”

Rory McIlroy is the favourite at 8.00 and American star Rickie Fowler, who is priced at 21.00, believes the Northern Irishman is the man to beat at Chambers Bay.

Masters champion Spieth is 8.50.
