Former world number one Jordan Spieth is confident that he will finally get to win a Ryder Cup this month when they take on Europe at Hazeltine.

The American will head into this weekend’s Tour Championship as the defending champion and a victory there could give him a chance of winning the FedExCup.

However, Spieth is already thinking beyond that, specifically the Ryder Cup on home soil. The world number four has already won the FedExCup so now his focus is winning the Ryder Cup with his team-mates.

He tasted defeat at Gleneagles in 2014 as a rookie but the USA team head into the tournament this time around as the strong favourites.

The 23-year-old admitted he felt empty after losing two years ago but he is now confident of going all the way alongside his countrymen.

Spieth said: “If you’re saying 2016, right now, if I’ve got a choice… Ryder Cup. You want something that you don’t have. That’s a trophy that I’ve watched the other side of it now, and it hurt.

“I think I will have a Ryder Cup at some point. I think that will be easier to win, easier to have a Ryder Cup than a FedEx Cup going forward, given you may not play your best and you’ve got team-mates around you that play their best and win it.

“I think I’m pretty confident about how we’re going to go about our business. I think we’ve got a fantastic team this year, one of the best teams I can remember, and I love being a part of that.”

The USA are 1.53 favourites to win, with the draw 11.00, while Europe are priced at 2.80 with Dafabet.
