Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has confirmed that he will hold talks with other clubs in the January transfer window after dropping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

The Nigeria international joined the Blues in June 2006 and he has since made 368 first-team appearances for the club in all competitions.

He has won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League with Chelsea but the 29-year-old could still be set to leave the club.

Mikel has yet to play under boss Antonio Conte since his summer arrival, despite being a regular last season. He made 33 appearances for the Blues during their disappointing 2015/16 campaign but he now admits his 11-year stay could be coming to an end.

His contract runs out next summer and Mikel is eager to listen to other offers as he eyes a new chapter in his career.

“When you have a year left, in January you are allowed to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract or have an agreement so, yes, I will talk to other clubs because you never know what is going to happen,” Mikel said.

“If it is going to be the Premier League there will be options. If it is China or some other places, we will see. One thing is for sure, I will make the best decision.

“I’ve been here for a long, long time. I’ve spent 11 years of my life in this football club, it is my home. This season is the last at the club if my contract ends. I am quite relaxed about it, the future looks good.”
