Tommy Fleetwood is targeting more European Tour success after holding his nerve to win Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles on Sunday.

The young Englishman picked up three shots over the last three holes to finish on 18 under par along with Stephen Gallacher and Ricardo Gonzalez.

The 22-year-old then birdied the 18th to prevail in the play-off to clinch his first European Tour event, and he has immediately set his sights on more glory.

“I loved it, it was fantastic,” he revealed. “It was a nice play-off to be part of. They are two really nice guys, Ricardo and Stevie. I hit two great golf shots and two good putts and that’s all you can do.

“To win my first Tour event feels absolutely amazing. It’s a lifetime goal that’s been taken care of and hopefully I can move on and win some more. To call yourself a European Tour winner is just awesome.”

Meanwhile, Gallacher is now a doubt for this week’s Wales Open because of a back injury that almost forced him out of the Johnnie Walker Championship.

“I am going for a scan tomorrow and, if everything’s OK, I’ll go down,” Gallacher revealed. “If you had given me a play-off on Monday, I would have been quite happy.”
