Team principal Christian Horner feels Sebastian Vettel’s new deal at Red Bull will help team and driver go from strength to strength.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the German had agreed a one-year extension to take him through to the end of 2015.

The Milton Keynes-based team are already top of the drivers and constructors championships, with Vettel seeking his fifth world title.

Having been with Red Bull since 2009, Horner insists that Vettel had no doubt that his future still lies with his current team.

The Red Bull chief stated: “It was more of a formality than anything else. We have a long-term agreement with Sebastian, and it was just perfect timing for both sides to extend for another year.”

Horner feels Vettel’s decision to put pen to paper on an extension is simply a sign of the trust the 25-year-old is placing with the team.

Vettel will look to extend his lead, which is currently 36 points, at the British Grand Prix – which takes place on June 30.

The former Sauber driver has only won once at Silverstone, back in 2009, and finished third last season behind team-mate Mark Webber and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
