Nico Rosberg says he is excited about the prospect of continuing his title push this weekend in Singapore.
The German made a fast start to the season but struggled to keep pace with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, as the Brit won six of the seven races immediately before the summer break.
It has been his colleague who has been on top since the resumption of the campaign though, winning in both Belgium and Italy to close the gap down to just two points.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of the most eye-catching on the calendar but the Silver Arrows suffered a rare off weekend there in 2015, with Hamilton being forced to retire and Rosberg only managing fourth.
Both drivers will be hoping for better this year, as they know a single mistake could prove costly in the battle for the Drivers’ Championship.
Rosberg, who is 3.80 to win the Drivers’ Championship, admits his recent results have made him extremely confident and says he is feeling positive about turning his past difficulties in Singapore around this weekend.
“Standing on top of that Monza podium was an awesome experience,” he told Mercedes’ official website. “But now my focus is on Singapore – a race that’s been up and down for me.
“I got my second ever podium there way back in 2008 but haven’t been up there again since, so the target is to change that on Sunday. Of course, it won’t be easy. “I approach each weekend aiming to win the race.
The points gap has gone up and down but I’ve taken it one race at a time – and that’s the best way for me, as you can see by how the gap is now.”
Hamilton is the current 2.40 favourite to win in Singapore while Rosberg is priced at 4.00 to take the chequered flag.
