Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro says boss Zinedine Zidane has not even considered the possibility that he may fail at the club.

The Frenchman was arguably the best player of his generation and having spent five years at the Bernabeu, was appointed the club’s coach in January.

Having previously been the assistant to Carlo Ancelotti, Zidane’s only other recognisable coaching experience came in the form of a two-year spell in charge of Los Blancos’ second string Castilla outfit.

Despite his lack of dugout experience, he has seemingly slipped into management with the same grace he showed on the field, guiding the club to the Champions League title in May.

More is expected during his first full season in charge and Real’s perfect start to the La Liga campaign indicates they are shaping up nicely.

They are now due to begin their Champions League defence on Wednesday against Sporting Lisbon, a game they are 1.22 to win, with the draw 7.00 and their Portuguese opponents 13.00.

Midfielder Casemiro has become an important member of the side under Zidane, with the boss seemingly recognising the value of the steel he provides to his star-studded team.

The Brazilian admits the 44-year-old has had a huge impact on the squad and says the coach is in no doubt that his tenure will result in even more success.

“He knows he will not fail,” Casemiro said. “You learn something from every conversation that you have with him – it’s unique.

“Personally I have to thank him for how much he has trusted me and let me be a part of the squad. “He has given us all humility and we should be thankful to him!”
