Nico Rosberg has admitted that he will be giving everything he has to offer at next weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix as he looks to reclaim top spot in the Drivers’ Championship from Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg is priced at 4.00 to lift the Drivers’ Championship and had held top spot since the opening day in Australia, when he secured first place and Hamilton who is valued at 1.27 to claim the Drivers’ Championship was forced to retire.

However, the following four events have seen Hamilton take the chequered flag with the German following in behind as a close second.

A fourth consecutive win in Spain last time out saw Hamilton climb to the top of the tree for the first time this term and Rosberg admits it was a hard pill to swallow.

Rosberg said: “The championship battle is very close and to re-gain the advantage at my home race would be fantastic, so I’ll be pushing harder than ever to make that happen.

“I had a productive day of testing in Barcelona where we made some good progress with braking and starts: two areas that I feel are costing me time at the moment. Hopefully that will give me the extra edge next weekend. It should be an exciting weekend and I can’t wait to get started.”

Mercedes have been the early pace setters in the 2014 campaign and after enjoying more success during the testing in Spain last week the duo are expected to further extend their lead at the top of the standings in Monaco.
