Lewis Hamilton says he cannot wait to return to action this weekend and is targeting a title push in the second half of the season.

Hamilton returned to top form four weeks ago when winning the Hungarian Grand Prix to breathe new life into his season and will be looking to make it back-to-back wins when the campaign resumes this weekend.

The 28-year-old has been recuperating during the Formula One summer break but returns in this weekend’s race in Belgium looking to close the gap on Sebastian Vettel.

Hamilton is a massive 48 points behind championship leader Vettel, but says he will be doing all he can to close the gap in the second half of the season.

“It feels like I have been out of the car for a very long time since the win in Hungary and I can’t wait to get going again,” said Hamilton.

“I was at the factory (in Brackley) on Tuesday to meet up with my engineers and get in some practice on the simulator.

“It was nice to see everyone and to feel the enthusiasm around the factory after the summer break.

“We’re all looking forward to the second half of the season and the opportunity to bring home some more good results.”

Hamilton has three successive poles to his name and will be hoping to make it four when qualifying begins in earnest later this week.
