Zlatan Ibrahimovic has opened the door for a return to AC Milan and denied suggestions his career will be defined by winning the Champions League.
The Sweden talisman ended the domestic campaign by winning a third consecutive Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue, but with doubts about his future in the French capital.
The 33-year-old, who left the Milanese giants in 2012 to join Laurent Blanc’s men, said he had not ruled out the possibility of a return to Serie A.
“I have one year left on my contract with PSG and no other plans, but then things can change from one day to the next,” Ibrahimovic was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“I think that the older I get, and now I’m a father, I think differently about choosing a club.
“It’s not just the football aspect that needs to be right, it’s how your family settle and what kind of city you’ll be living in.”
The Serie A club cannot offer Ibrahimovic the carrot of Champions League football because of a 10th-place finish last season, but are on the cusp of signing FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez in their efforts to become a major force again.
Europe’s elite club competition has eluded the former Juventus, Inter Milan and Barcelona star, but the giant striker said he would not look back at the end of his career with regret.
Speaking after scoring two goals for Sweden in a 3-1 win against Montenegro in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday, Ibrahimovic added: “A lot of people think it’s all about the Champions League, but that’s not true. I want to be at a club where I enjoy myself, have a good time and play fun football.
“If I don’t win the Champions League, believe me, my career will have been magical anyway.”
Ibrahimovic spent two years with Milan earlier in his career, winning the 2010-11 Serie A title and Supercoppa Italian, and scoring 56 goals in 85 matches.
