Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta is relishing the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola despite revealing some prohibitive measures the new boss has implemented.
The full-back says the squad are denied internet access at the club’s training ground as Guardiola encourages them to interact with each other and foster team spirit in the process.
Zabaleta however insists that he is privileged to have the chance of working with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach.
Currently with Argentina for their World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Paraguay, the 31-year-old explained to reporters that Guardiola’s changes this summer included more than simply a chance of diet.
“He cuts off the internet and we are incommunicado. We can’t even get on the 3G,” he said.
In spite of that measure, Zabaleta admits that he feels lucky to get a chance to work with Guardiola.
“You always dream about being coached by one of the best, and right now I have the opportunity to work with one of the best.
“Really, one learns a lot, especially about life. Beyond all his wisdom, he has a real passion for football,” he added.
Man City made the perfect start to life under Guardiola, winning their first ten competitive matches.
They stormed through six Premier League games to lead the way at the top of the table.
Their winning run was halted by Celtic during a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Champions League last week and Spurs then handed out a 2-0 defeat in the league over the weekend.
Man City now lead by just one point over the White Hart Lane outfit. Guardiola’s side are 1.83 to be crowned champions this season while Tottenham are 9.00.
