United States national team boss Jurgen Klinsmann has labelled it ‘fantastic’ that Swansea have given Bob Bradley the chance to become the first US boss of a Premier League team.

The Swans replaced Italian Francesco Guidolin, in charge since January, with Bradley on Monday.

The Welsh outfit are 17th in the table and without a win since the opening day of the season.

Klinsmann, linked in the past with the England job, believes it is a great step for both Bradley and English football.

“Bob deserves this chance,” said the former Tottenham striker.

“It is fantastic that there is an ownership group in the Premier League giving trust into an American coach.”

According to the 1990 World Cup winner with Germany, there are plenty more US coaches capable of working in Europe’s top leagues.

Bradley meanwhile was in charge of the United States from 2006 until 2011 before spells in Egypt, Norway and France.

The 58-year-old has earned his shot at the Premier League, says Klinsmann.

“Bob went the tough route,” Klinsmann added. “The places he went after he coached the USA national team have been impressive.

“He did not shy away from different cultures, languages or approaches. He deserves that chance and I hope they give him all the support in the world.”

Swansea lot their last four games, against Southampton, Manchester City and Liverpool in the league and also against the Citizens in the League Cup, prompting the club to dispense with under fire Guidolin.

Bradley will make his bow away at Arsenal on October 15, where Swansea are 11.00 to win. The Welsh outfit are 3.00 to be relegated this season.
