Wolfsburg have again stated that Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will be staying at the club next season.

De Bruyne joined the Bundesliga outfit from Chelsea last year having failed to win a first-team spot under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

Such has been the form of the 24-year-old at Wolfsburg
that a host of top clubs are now tracking him, with Manchester City apparently keen to take him back to the Premier League.

Wolfsburg have maintained they will not be forced to sell the player, and head coach Dieter Hecking says he fully expects De Bruyne to stay for at least one more season.

“Kevin is a player the world wants. I think he will stay for a minimum one more year at Wolfsburg,” said after De Bruyne scored in a 1-1 draw with Ajax on Friday.

De Bruyne has scored 19 goals and contributed 33 assists in just 69 appearances for Wolfsburg since he left Stamford Bridge in January 2014.

Last season, he helped the club finish second behind Bayern Munich in the German top flight, ensuring they have Champions League football to look forward to in the months ahead.

He has 25 caps for Belgium and was part of the Red Devils’ World Cup squad in Brazil last summer.

While Wolfsburg are confident they can keep the player, De Bruyne’s response when asked about his future leaves his plans in some doubt.

“Sorry, I have been told not to talk,” he told reporters although Wolfsburg denied that any such instruction came from them.

Wolfsburg are 2.88 in the betting without Bayern Munich for next seasons Bundesliga, while they are 15.00 to win the title.
