West Ham joint-chairman David Gold insists there is a good feeling within the club and the signs are looking good ahead of the new Premier League season.

This will be the club’s last campaign at the Boleyn Ground, also known as Upton Park, as they are moving to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford for the 2016/17 season.

West Ham have been at their current ground since 1904 but the change in venue shows the desire of the hierarchy and their big goals for the future.

The Hammers will be hoping to enjoy a successful campaign this time around and build from their 12th-place finish in the Premier League last time out.

It could have been better had they not fallen away after the turn of the year, with poor results seeing them drop from fourth place into the bottom half of the table.

Manager Sam Allardyce then departed the scene at the end of the season.

The East-enders qualified for the Europa League, however and, with new manager Slaven Bilic in place, Gold believes everything is set for a good campaign.

“We are very optimistic and I believe we have a better squad of players than we had last season and we are not finished yet,” he said. “We finished 12th but at Christmas we were sitting in fourth place, so I am optimistic and the fans are optimistic.

“Slaven (Bilic) is a passionate manager and already the fans are warming towards him. Collectively I think we will have a good season.”

West Ham, who are priced at 7.00 to be relegated to the Championship this season, open their account away at Community Shield winners Arsenal, and the hosts are 1.25 favourites, a draw is 6.00 while the visitors are big outsiders at 12.00.
