Scottish champions Celtic are reportedly showing a keen interest in Watford winger Ikechi Anya and are considering whether to make an offer this summer.

The Hoops are firm admirers of the Scotland international but missed out on securing his signature last season after failing to agree a fee with the Hornets.

Anya played a massive part in helping Watford win promotion to the Premier League, making 35 Championship appearances and producing some sensational displays.

The 27-year-old has also become a vital cog for Scotland and the former Celta player has been a key man in their ongoing Euro 2016 qualification campaign.

Celtic are now hoping they can land their target this summer as manager Ronny Deila aims to strengthen his attacking options following the departures of Aleksandar Tonev and Mubarak Wakaso.

Deila managed to guide his side to a domestic double in his debut season, clinching the league title and the Scottish Cup.

The addition of Anya to the squad would also provide an option at the back, with the winger being used as a left wing-back at times for both club and country.

It is understood that Watford could be willing to do a deal to sell the 27-year-old, who still has a year on his contract with the Vicarage Road outfit.

The main task Celtic have is persuading Anya to pass up the opportunity to play in the Premier League and instead join the Scottish giants.

Anya is involved with the Scotland national team at the moment as they prepare to face the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

The Scots are outsiders at 3.30 to win the match while the hosts are slight favourites at 2.30 for the Dublin showdown.
