Chelsea’s mouth-watering clash with Manchester United on Sunday should reveal a lot more about their chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

The Blues will head into the Stamford Bridge encounter nine points clear of the champions and right in the thick of the race to claim the title, and they are the 1.80 favourites to take all three points from the Red Devils, who can be backed at 4.56.

Jose Mourinho’s men have dropped just four points from their past 10 games while United have won five, lost three and drawn two to sit in seventh place in the top-flight standings.

Most things point to a home win but form tends to go out of the window when these two giants of English football meet.

The rivalry between Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson has now ended but United, under David Moyes, will still up their game with the sight of the Portuguese tactician in the opposition dug-out.

The title race now looks set to be a three-way battle between Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, but United could certainly play a ‘spoilers’ role during the run-in as they are quite capable of taking down the top teams if their best players are on song.

Both the Gunners and City will hope that is the case on Sunday as they face Fulham and Cardiff City respectively to try and keep the pressure on the west Londoners.

Mourinho has already worked his magic at Chelsea this term to propel them into the title race and the Champions League knock-out stage, and the home fans will be hoping that they can make it five straight league wins when United come calling.
