New Liverpool defender Kolo Toure hopes striker Luis Suarez stays put but admits the club will decide what the future holds for the Uruguayan.

The Reds have already added to their squad this summer with Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas, and Luis Alberto all moving to Anfield but they still may lose Suarez with the striker looking to move away.

Toure, who joined on a free transfer from Manchester City, has said he wants to play alongside the Liverpool star but knows that the future of the former Ajax player is uncertain.

Suarez has been linked with a move to a number of European clubs including Real Madrid, while Arsenal are understood to have made a bid for the forward earlier this week.

Toure, who was unveiled to the media on Wednesday, believes Suarez can win trophies at Anfield should he choose to stay.

He said: “He’s a fantastic player. But it’s up to the club to decide what they think will be best for everybody. If he stays here, he can have more chances to win trophies.

“This club is definitely prepared – the organisation, the mentality of players and staff. This is a top, professional club. It is amazing. He is a great player, a fantastic player. But it is up to the club to decide what they think will be best for everybody.

“It’s an honour to play for Liverpool. I have only been here for two weeks but I’ve seen a lot of good things. This is a winning club and I want to be part of history here.”
