Mauricio Pochettino says his Tottenham side must deliver a ‘near perfect’ performance in order to defeat Chelsea in the Capital One Cup Final at Wembley.

Spurs gave arguably their best performance of this season when they stunned Chelsea on New Year’s Day, rallying from a goal down to win 5-3 at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino says that performance level that will be required yet again for victory against the Blues in Sunday’s decider.

“You saw the game; our performance was nearly perfect,” the Argentine said at his pre-match media conference. “I think that we had a really good performance. We need to repeat the same performance to win the trophy.”

That victory was Tottenham’s first over their London rivals in ten meetings and Pochettino said he hoped it would be a source of belief for everyone at Tottenham that they can prevail in the final.

Taking charge of his first major final as a manager, Pochettino admits it will be a new experience for many in the Spurs camp, but he believes that to be a strong motivating factor.

“We’re looking forward to play. I think that our motivation is full, and I think not only for me but for a lot of the players, it’s a first final in their careers. So I think the motivation is full,” he added.

Tottenham are 4.82 to defeat Chelsea in 90 minutes while they are 3.50 to win the Capital One Cup outright with Dafabet.

However, Spurs go into the match without a win in four games since they defeated Arsenal in the North London derby in early February.
