Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge admits he is desperate to continue his fine goalscoring run with England.
England need two wins against Poland and Montenegro to ensure they qualify for the World Cup in 2014 and Sturridge will come into the qualifiers in a rich run of form. The Reds striker was forced to miss England’s crucial double header last month against Ukraine and Moldova but his return could be perfectly timed with England needing two results.
Sturridge has scored six goals so far this season in the Premier League and he hopes that he continue to find the net for Roy Hodgson’s men.
“I’m fit and ready to go and I’m really happy about that, as I was really gutted to miss the last two England games,” said Sturridge.
“I feel I’m in the form of my life and hope to give the England boss a selection problem.”
Fellow striker Wayne Rooney also missed England’s last double header and captain Steven Gerrard admits it is a boost to get both players back in time.
“I’m glad Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge will be available for us after missing the last two games because they are players that can make an awful lot of difference to the squad,” said Gerrard.
“Every opposition will have their tricky players and Montengero and Poland with have their match winners as well, but we will have the better match winners – I tell you that!”
