Roma’s new sporting director Monchi is adamant that midfielder Radja Nainggolan will be staying with the Italian giants this summer.

The Belgium international has continued to be linked with a summer exit, with a number of top European clubs believed to be keen on securing his signature.

He has been scouted by Manchester United, while Chelsea and Inter Milan have also shown an interest.

Nainggolan has made 107 appearances for Roma since he joined the club permanently in 2014 and he made 17 on loan while at Cagliari.

The former Piacenza star has made a name for himself in Rome and he has helped the club claim two runners-up finishes during his time at the club.

He scored 15 goals in 46 appearances last season and Monchi is expecting him to remain at the Stadio Olimpico for the foreseeable future.

Monchi, who recently joined the club from Sevilla, told reporters on Saturday that the club are planning to build a strong team, with Nainggolan a key component.

He told the club’s official website: “Yes (he will stay). I think we’ve seen the last of the big departures from our club.

“Now it’s time to build a team, which will be supplemented with potential purchases in the transfer market.”

Roma signed Maxime Gonalons from Lyon on Saturday and their squad is continuing to grow ahead of the new campaign.

Juventus remain 1.53 favourites to win the Serie A title but you can back Roma at odds of 8.50 with Dafabet.
