Gianluigi Buffon’s agent claims the goalkeeper rejected offers from the Premier League in order to return to Juventus.

The former Italy international returned to Turin on a one-year deal earlier this week after one season with Paris Saint-Germain, where he made 25 appearances in all competitions.

Agent Silvano Martina says the 41-year-old had a number of offers from England but instead opted to return to Juve, where he spent 17 years before heading to the French capital last summer.

“He had many offers, especially from the Premier League and from other large teams,” Martina told reporters. “I don’t name names, it’s not in my style but I think you won’t have problems understanding.

“Buffon has always made choices with his heart and never for his wallet. You can compare his return home to that of a husband who after an escapade can’t wait to hug his wife again.”

Buffon won nine Serie A titles during his time with Juve and they are 1.44 to win the Scudetto next season. Inter Milan are next in the betting at 5.50, Napoli are 6.50 and Atalanta are 51.00.

Buffon has never managed to claim the Champions League title and Juve are 9.50 to claim Europe’s top prize next season, while the keeper’s former club PSG are also priced at 9.50.
