AC Milan are not perhaps the force they once were but new signing Keisuke Honda insists that it is a ‘dream come true’ to making move to San Siro and is confident he can turn around club’s fortunes.

The Rossoneri went into the winter break on the back of a 1-0 defeat in the derby to arch rivals Inter, a result which leaves them languishing in 13th place in the Serie A table.

Milan are just five points above the relegation zone with Europe next season seeming a distant dream away, but Honda – who was signed after his contract with CSKA Moscow expired – is relishing the opportunity to cement his name in the club’s folklore.

“I’m happy to be here and I’m very excited,” Honda told Milan’s official website.

“I’m ready to play. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates. I think I can give a lot, something more to the team.

“I’ve been waiting here for this for a long time. It’s a dream come true, AC Milan has always been a legendary club for me, I followed them as a child.
“Football is my life and I hope to play well. I can play in any position and I want to score as well as create goals. I want to play in attack but it doesn’t matter where.”

Monday’s home clash against Atalanta will probably come too soon for the new signing, but he is expected to be available for next weekend’s clash against 17th-placed Sassuolo.

There could well be further comings and goings at the San Siro over the course of the next month, with the latest reports suggesting Philippe Mexes could be on his way to Monaco with Radja Nainggolan arriving from Cagliari.
