Burnley manager Sean Dyche says his current squad have made a better start in the Premier League than they did two years ago thanks to their commitment and desire.
The Clarets, 1.67 to be relegated this season, are currently 14th in the league table after seven matches. They have picked up a point for every match but Dyche is delighted with their commitment so far.
It took Burnley until November to win their first match in the top flight two years ago, but they beat Liverpool 2-0 in their second home game of the current campaign.
Despite winning just one game in their last five attempts, Dyche has heaped praise on his players who were seconds away from earning a point against Arsenal on Sunday.
He told Lancashire Telegraph: “I think there were a number of good performances, that’s why there’s frustration in the outcome, but I’ve got to look at my players and what they’re giving me and each other.
“There’s no question they give a lot, in their performances and their will and demand, and that drive it takes to win games.
“We know we’re not market leaders, we’re the minnows of the division – you’ve seen our spending power compared to everyone else, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to take on the challenge because you’ve seen that in abundance.
“I think we’re moving forward, adapting to the Premier League quicker than we did last time – there’s an inner belief in the performances.”
Centre-back Michael Keane has played a key role in the club’s progress in recent weeks and he has been rewarded with a place in the latest England squad.
Keane has been called up to senior squad for the first time after Stoke right-back Glen Johnson withdrew through injury on Tuesday.
