Burnley manager Sean Dyche says he is pleased with his side’s current home form but believes it is crucial they start performing better on the road.

The promoted club have made a steady start to life back in the Premier League and sit 14th with seven points from their opening eight outings.

However, all of the points they currently boast have been claimed on home soil and they appear to be finding life hard on their travels. The Clarets have shipped nine goals and scored just one in the three matches they have lost away from Turf Moor.

Burnley’s latest defeat came at St Mary’s on Sunday when they were beaten 3-1 courtesy of a brace from former striker Charlie Austin.

Dyche, who failed to keep Burnley in the Premier League in the 2014-15 season, has admitted they need to ensure they can perform away from their own patch if they are to avoid the same outcome.

“We’re still trying to develop a group, and they’re developing through the knocks as well,” Dyche said. “At home we’ve looked a much stronger unit in terms of how we’ve gone about it, away from home we’re still searching for that real freedom to go on and take on the challenge.

We’re still a bit edgy and sort of unsure of ourselves. “At home I think there is a nice security about what we’re doing, so that’s got to come and it’s got to come quickly.

“We’re already eight games into the Premier League season and we’re going to need points away from home as well as at home, so it’s important that the team grows to understand that.”

Burnley are 5.50 to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they entertain Everton, who are priced at 1.67 to take all three points, while the draw is available at 3.60.
